BYAC PERSONNEL
HEAD COACH:
Jeff Armstrong
Coach Armstrong has coached since 1976, at all levels of swimming. These include High School, USA Swimming, Collegiate and YMCA. Half of that time has been in the YMCA system. His swimmers have gone on to achieve many local, regional, national, and international records. Many have also gone on to swim at the collegiate level at major swimming schools such as Stanford, Michigan, and Harvard. His philosophy is to concentrate on the development of each individual swimmer, and by doing that, develop a successful overall team. As a team, he believes that the coaching staff and parents should provide everything necessary to allow the swimmers to achieve their personal goals. Individually swimmers will be encouraged to develop their talents to the best of their ability.
ASSISTANT COACHES:
Corrie Jones
Coach Corrie started swimming as a teenager and swam for both BYAC and Butler HS. She continued swimming at the collegiate level where she made All-American status as a freshman. After graduation she chose to swim with the Masters Swim Program where she attended the Masters Nationals in eight events and winning the National Title for the 1650 Freestyle and setting the record in that event.
Corrie has been a part-time coach with BYAC for the past 15+ years. She also coaches the Penn Valley Swim Team over the summer. When she’s not at the pool, she is either teaching for BASD or spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Alex Fertelmes
Coach Alex is a former BYAC, SEBCO, and Knoch HS swimmer. He has coached the SEBCO swim team for 8 seasons and served as an assistant coach for the State College Area YMCA, Knoch HS, and BYAC (03-04 season). Alex swam at the collegiate level for Penn State Behrend. During the day Alex works as an automation engineer for JSP in East Butler. As well as swimming he enjoys competing in road races and triathlons. His goal as a coach is to teach swimmers to love the sport of swimming.

Code of Conduct The actions of each swimmer, parent, and coach reflect upon the entire swim team and the Butler County Family YMCA. All members of the Butler YMCA Swim Team, as well as their parents and coaches, are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct. By joining this swim team, all swimmers and parents agree to follow this code at all times.
BYAC Handbook The BYAC Handbook is a source of information and guidance for Swim Team members and their parents.
Butler YMCA Swim Team Athlete Information Form Butler YMCA Swim Team Athlete Information Form is used by the coaching staff to complete swimmer registration for swim meets and other administrative uses such as the end of the year banquet.
Swimmer Emergency Contact Form The Swimmer Emergency Contact Form is used in the event of an emergency either at practice or meets, where a parent or guardian is not immediately available.
